The City of Detroit has had a profound impact on American and world culture – from leading the development of the automobile industry to giving birth to the indelible Motown sound. It has also been a launching pad for jazz greatness, producing such legends as Thad, Elvin and Hank Jones, Yusef Lateef, Kenny Burrell, Ron Carter, Tommy Flanagan, Curtis Fuller, and countless others.

The “Motor City” continues to be a hot spot for jazz and popular music, with a vibrant club scene, some of the most exciting young artists in the business and, of course, the Detroit International Jazz Festival.  It also boasts world-class restaurants, hotels and casinos, a scenic river front, a revitalized downtown, and much more.

But don’t take our word.  Visit Detroit on Labor Day Weekend 2010 and experience it for yourself.
