Rob McCabe's Tales From Around the World
Noon–12:45PM

Calling all kids! Come hear stories from faraway lands with a jazz twist. Storyteller Rob McCabe has been delighting audiences with his unique brand of storytelling theatre where he weaves a magical web around his listeners and holds them captive until the very end. Rob is a member of the National Storytelling Network, the Detroit Story League, the Parent-Tellers, the North Oakland County Storytellers, the Healing Stories Special Interest Group of the National Storytelling Network, and the Ann Arbor Storytellers’ Guild.

  Meijer Nutritionist Tina Miller

Nutritionist Tina Miller provides fun food activities, games, special prizes and information on how to eat for good health. As the Healthy Living Advisor at Meijer, Miller promotes healthy meal planning to the communities in East Michigan and Northern Ohio. She is also an adjunct professor in the Dietetics program at Eastern Michigan University and can be heard on local radio with her weekly nutrition spot on the Lucy Ann Lance Show on WLBY 1290 AM.
 
Detroit Tap Repertory presents: M.A.D.D. Rhythms with special guest Rod Ferrone

M.A.D.D. Rhythms is a tap dance collective whose “SOLE” purpose is to spread the love and joy of tap worldwide. What started as Bril Barrett’s formula for giving back is now a full-fledged performing arts company, quickly gaining a reputation for representing the true essence of tap— RHYTHM! Special guest Rod Ferrone is a tap dancer and entertainer who has performed to critical acclaim internationally, wowing his audiences with a unique blend of tap, physical comedy, eccentric moves and dazzling hat tricks. He is joined by the Detroit Tap Repertory, founded by former Radio City Rockette Denise Caston.
 
Scat 101 with Michelle McKinney and the Jazz Cats

Ms. McKinney has worked as a percussionist, singer, storyteller and dancer in the Detroit area for more than three decades. During that time, she has toured storytelling and music education programs such as “Roots, Rock, Reggae: The Story of Reggae” and “Discover Jazz,” while also writing and producing several programs. “Jazz for a New Generation,” with Harold McKinney (her late husband) and McKinfolk, was a fixture at the Detroit Jazz Fest for years. This year Ms. McKinney presents “Scat 101,” which debuted at the 2007 festival. Appearing with her are the “Jazz Cats” trio, comprised of Bill Meyer on piano, Marion Hayden on bass and Ms. Kinney’s daughter GayeLynn McKinney on drums.
